Above, you can watch Oculus VR CTO John Carmack’s 90 minute keynote speech — mostly about his trials and tribulations while developing mobile VR headset Gear VR in collaboration with Korean phone giant Samsung. The company will release the headset, which is compatible only with its upcoming Galaxy Note 4 phone, later this year. The keynote speech, which took place at the company’s Oculus Connect developer event last month in Los Angeles, is a rambling but fascinating and off-the-cuff 90 minute look into the current state of mobile VR development. In the speech, Carmack talks extensively about the challenges he’s faced and his thoughts on the progression of VR technology. It’s not the only video from the event Oculus as posted; the Future of VR panel sees Carmack joined by co-founders Nate Mitchell and Palmer Luckey, as well as chief scientist Michael Abrash and chief architect Atman Binstock. Abrash’s keynote — which received rapturous applause from attendees — explores the implications of the coming revolution in VR technology that Abrash expects.
